Depart Adelaide from your city hotel and travel into the Adelaide Hills and arrive in the ever growing township of Mount Barker.

Step aboard the SteamRanger Southern Encounter (AKA the South Coast Wine Train) and travel via heritage train past the eucalyptus trees and through the rolling hills of the Mount Lofty Ranges to arrive at Strathalbyn.

Travel via coach the short distance to the vineyards of Langhorne Creek and arrive for our first wine tasting at Bremerton Wines. Be guided through a tasting of their award winning wines all within their charmingly restored stone barn.

Arrive next at the historical winery of Bleasdale. Indulge in their wine list during a tasting and learn more about the history of the first winery in the region. Inspect the 1890’s built wine press constructed from the River Red Gums that are so prolific in the region.

Next we continue our tour beyond the vines and onwards to the quaint little village of Finniss. Enjoy a 2 course lunch at the popular Finniss General Store and take the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine from the region.

After lunch travel through the vines of the Currency Creek wine region and arrive at the Port of Goolwa. Sample some of the wines from 90 Mile Wines or sit back on the deck overlooking the Murray River whilst enjoying a beer or whisky at the local Steam Exchange Brewery.

As we continue further south to Victor Harbor watch for whales along the coast as the area becomes the birthing ground of the Southern Right Whale from June until October.

On arrival at Victor Harbor prepare to reboard the South Coast Wine Train for the return journey to Mount Barker. Enjoy the surf and the sand as our train travels along the beach front through the dunes and along the coast of Encounter Bay and the Southern Ocean.

Enjoy a local platter of cheeses, smallgoods and produce from the regions, enjoy a chat with a new friend and a laugh with an old as the train heads past Goolwa and over the plains to Strathalbyn and onwards towards our destination of Mount Barker.

On arrival at Mount Barker our coach will be waiting to shuttle you back to the city of Adelaide and to your hotel.
