McLaren Vale Day Tour
McLaren Vale Vineyards
The historic Hardys Tintara winery and cellars - McLaren Vale
McLaren Vale Vineyards
Be collected from your city hotel and travel south from Adelaide where views of the St Vincent Gulf waters will be enjoyed as we make our way closer to the sandy beaches and the coast.
Take the opportunity for a photo at the Port Noarlunga lookout where your guide will explain the effect the coast has on the growing of the vines and the wines of McLaren Vale and how the area has developed since European settlement.
Continue along the coast through newer suburbs and past old farming land with the chance of spotting a Kangaroo and enter the McLaren Vale wine region.
Make a stop at the McLaren Vale Visitor Centre and enjoy viewing the local art in the gallery, the informative displays and an opportunity to purchase some morning tea at the café.
Next visit Kay Brothers Wines, the oldest family owned winery in the region dating back to 1890. Start your tasting experience by enjoying a range of wines including some old vine Shiraz, Cabernet and fortified wines from the region.
As you continue to the next cellar door at Angove Family Winemakers, enjoy the views of the Mount Lofty Ranges bordering one side of McLaren Vale and the opening tapestry of vineyards that run on down to the coastal edge.
Angove Family Winemakers go back 5 generation when Dr William Thomas Angove arrived in Adelaide in 1886 and started making wine as tonic for his patients within his local practice. These days Angove Family Winemakers has developed to become one of Australia’s largest privately owned wine companies.
A 2 course lunch is enjoyed at the popular Red Poles restaurant and art gallery where you may wish to continue with a taste of other local wines on offer or if you have a liking for beer, try a beer tasting paddle of one of the many craft breweries from the region.
After lunch stroll along the main street of McLaren Vale and enjoy time to visit the shops and cellar doors including Robern Menz Chocolates, the Almond Train, Blessed Cheese, Bracegirdle’s Chocolates and Hardys Tintara Winery.
Throughout the day, enjoy the flexibility of a small group tour to visit another 1 to 2 wineries suited to your palate. Our guide will get to know your interests and preferences in wine styles earlier in the day and will create the tour around wineries they believe will be well suited to our guests.
With over 60 cellar doors in the region, we are sure to help you discover your next favourite winery. Some examples include Wirra Wirra, Fox Creek, Chapel Hill Wines, Samuels Gorge, Alpha Box & Dice, Pertaringa Wines and d’Arenberg just to name a few.
