Barossa Valley Day Tour
Travel through the north eastern suburbs of Adelaide , through Saint Peters, Payneham and Campbelltown whilst heading for the majestic Adelaide Hills.
Travel past the Millbrook Reservoir and keep a eye open for Kangaroos through the Mount Crawford Pine Forest as we notice the countryside changing from forest and pastures to vineyards and wineries.
Arrive at our first winery of Kies Family Wines. Enjoy a taste from this small family owned winery and take this opportunity to enjoy some morning tea at the Monkey Nut Cafe.
Continue your tour beyond the vines and to our next winery of St Hallett. St Hallett was established by the Lindner family in 1944 firstly focusing on fortifield wines. Then in 1980 the first vintage of the Old Block Shiraz was released with great success changing the focus of St Hallett onto premium table wines. Today we will get the opportunity to enjoy some of their award winning wines.
A short walk from St Hallett will take you to the Keg Factory. Here view the work of the talented coopers who renew used and retired wine barrels into smaller kegs for purchase by the general public.
Travel to the central part of the Barossa and to the township of Tanunda. The iconic winery of Chateau Tanunda sits in this town where it was first built back in the 1890s. The Chateau has played an important history in the wine story of the Valley and Australia. At one stage the largest winery in Australia, Chateau Tanunda was left to rot and weather during the 1990s until the Geber family saved this historic winery.
Enjoy a structured wine tasting within the walls of the winery that have nurtured some of Australia's greatest winemakers over the years and learn more of its history and how it is now developing for the future.
A short journey into the Barossa Ranges will then take us to Menglers Hills Lookout. Take this opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views of what is often regarded as Australia's premium wine region, the Barossa Valley.
Travel to the town of Angaston to enjoy a 2 course lunch at the South Australian Company Store Kitchen.
Angaston has been influenced in the early days by the english family of the Chairman of the South Australian Company and great South Australian Supporter, George Fyfe Angas.
This town today is home to many fine wineries and producers, including a cheese maker – The Barossa Valley Cheese Company. Enjoy a taste of their delicious products.
After lunch, travel to Kaesler Wines on the outskirts of the township of Nuriootpa. Enjoy a taste within their bluestone cellar door, home to their premium reds, The Bogan and the Old Bastard.
Our last stop for the day is the historical winery and village of Seppeltsfield. Dating back to the 1850s Seppeltsfield is home to a community of Artisans, Fino Restaurant, cellar door and much more including their 100 year old Para Vintage Tawny.
